After the Fox – McHenry, IL

What a wonderful hidden treasure in McHenry, IL! This is an older establishment in downtown McHenry, located on the Fox River. The restaurant is very casual and has a wonderful view of the river. There is an outside deck area for eating during the warmer weather. The dining room is in a casual motif and I enjoyed the old pictures of the Fox River. In addition to the dining area, there is a large bar area and they have T.V.s to enjoy sporting events and Illinois Slot machines (tried my luck with my friend and we won $180.00, paid for our meal and some to take home). It is a welcome treat to enter an establishment and have everyone talking to each other, I could immediately figure out that this is a favorite place of all the McHenry locals. The best perk of this restaurant are the very affordable prices. In addition, they are very kid friendly. Every night they have a special and Monday is always steak and lobster night! For $16.99 you get a steak and lobster tail dinner that included a potato of your choice. My husband ordered this special. The steak was a decent size, juicy, tender and cooked to my husbands liking of medium rare. The lobster was tender and juicy also. Our friend ordered the pork chop special. For $8.00 you get two grilled pork chops, bread, apple sauces, potato of your choice and a vegetable. I ordered the shrimp dinner. For $14.00 you get 6 large fried shrimp and a potato of your choice. Unfortunately, I was so excited about the dinner I failed to get photos, but trust me the meal was worth the money! It was truly an amazing meal for a truly amazing price!
