In the small town of Le Clair, IA and located right on the Mississippi is a charming local German restaurant, Bierstube (Bierstube ). When you walk in the door you feel like you have just entered a pub in Germany. The wait staff are incredibly kind and willing to answer any and all questions, and you will have questions about which beer to choose.
The food is fresh, hot and German. The menu has an extensive list of German Sausages, they have Potato Pancakes, German Potato Salad, Poutine, and Bavarian Pretzels. Follow this link to see their menu Menu – Bierstube. I chose the Chicken and Dumpling soup and Fred selected the Sausage Platter. His came with two sides and he decided on red cabbage and a bowl of their Tomato Bisque Soup. The food was fresh and homemade (even the sausage). In fact the food was as amazing as the view of the Mississippi River from our booth window.
If you are ever in the area and want a unique German experience I would recommend stopping in here for a wonderful meal and some great beers, although they also have wine and a full bar if you prefer. If you choose to visit during warmer weather you can sit outside with an even better view of the Mississippi. In addition to the restaurant in Le Clair, they have a place in Moline, Illinois.
